Fluorapaptite

Mont Saint-Hilaire, La Vallée-du-Richelieu RCM, Montérégie, Québec
Canada
Dimensions: 2.8x2.5x1.7 cm
Price: CA

$210.00

This attractive miniature hosts a cluster of creamy white fluorapatite crystals nestled on a contrasting albitic matrix, sawn on the base and sides for optimal display. The fluorapatite have a subtle pearly to vitreous lustre, typical of phosphate mineralization within Mont Saint-Hilaire’s unique alkaline intrusive complex.

While fluorapatite is a relatively common accessory mineral at Mont Saint-Hilaire, display-quality crystal clusters such as this are far less frequently encountered, particularly with such attractive colour and matrix presentation. The specimen represents an excellent example of phosphate mineralization from this globally significant locality, renowned for its extraordinary mineral diversity and type-locality species.
