Fizelyite

Van Silver Property, Brandywine Creek, Vancouver Mining Division, British Columbia

Dimensions: 2.6x2.3x1.5 cm
Price: CA

$50.00

Clusters of sharp, feathered fizélyite crystals scattered in and on vuggy quartz matrix from the classic Van Silver Mine. The fizélyite occurs as elongated, needle-like to spear-shaped black crystals, sometimes with well-defined terminations, an exceptionally rare feature for this species. Fine hairs and sprays of boulangerite are intergrown in places. Some black sphalerite crystals can be visible on the specimen as well.

Associated minerals from this occurrence include diaphorite, pyrite, and pyrargyrite, reflecting the diverse sulfosalt assemblages for which the Van Silver Mine is known. Fizélyite from this locality only rarely shows true crystal terminations, making examples such as this especially desirable to advanced collectors. A seldom-seen representative of British Columbia silver mineralization.
