Certainly one of the finest, if not the finest, examples of this rare mineral I’ve ever offered on the website. This specimen features delicate, acicular crystals of elpidite forming a bold, radiating spray-like aggregate with little to no matrix present. The crystals exhibit a silvery-grey colour with sharp, well-defined terminations, characteristic of the best material from this world-renowned locality. Shows amazing green fluorescence un the UV light.
The most exceptional crystals of elpidite ever discovered are those from Mont Saint-Hilaire, where this rare sodium zirconium silicate occurs in superbly crystallized, highly aesthetic form, unlike almost anywhere else on Earth. This specimen is a textbook example of the species and a top-quality representation from one of the world’s most celebrated mineral localities.
