A beautiful example of rare elpidite, featuring fine, acicular crystals forming a delicate “spray”-like aggregate across a section of matrix. The crystals display a silvery-grey colour with a subtle reddish-orange oxidized coating. The terminations are sharp and well-defined, characteristic of the best material from this world-famous locality. The finest crystals of elpidite ever found are those from Mont Saint-Hilaire, where this rare sodium zirconium silicate occurs in aesthetic, well-crystallized form unlike almost anywhere else on Earth.
