This specimen from the famous Tsumeb Mine, Namibia showcases a striking association of duftite and dioptase. The piece is covered in a druse of calcite hosting countless micro puffball aggregates of soft green duftite. Scattered across this backdrop are several sharp, emerald-green dioptase crystals. Some of the world’s best examples of duftite have come from Tsumeb, and this specimen is a fine representative of that classic paragenesis.
This specimen stands out for its quality, rarity, and aesthetic form, with essentially pristine crystals across the surface. A superb example that comes from the well-regarded collection of Peter Tarassoff, a name well-known among Canadian collectors for his discerning eye and contributions to the hobby.
