This specimen features a striking cluster of well-formed, gemmy, and highly lustrous translucent green diopside crystals, with a particularly prominent crystal displayed at the top. The specimen is in great condition, contacted on the bottom and a bit on the back. Diopside from this locality typically forms in skarn-type deposits, which develop through the metamorphism of limestone and dolostone in contact with igneous intrusions. These geological processes provide ideal conditions for the growth of high-quality crystals like those seen here. The specimen originates from the Grenville geological province, a region celebrated for its remarkable and diverse mineralization.
