Descloizite

This thumbnail specimen showcases a sculptural and aesthetic cluster of exceptional individual crystals with a sharp thick bladed habit. They display a lustrous dark brown hue and the many individual faces on each individual crystal make the specimen flash as it is turned. Although labeled simply as "Tsumeb," the piece is likely from the renowned Berg Aukas locality in Namibia, famous for producing the world's finest descloizite specimens. These exceptional crystals commonly form in cavities adjacent to oxidized zinc ores like smithsonite and willemite. Berg Aukas specimens have set the global standard for this zinc analogue of mottramite.
