Cross-crossing plates of copper occupy a vug that once filled cracks between calcite that once filled the space. The specimen comes from The Caledonia Mine, an underground copper mine that began operations during the late 19th century and ran off and on in different capacities under different companies until 2013. The mine is currently used for collecting field trips put on by local organizations. The mine is exceptional for copper, silver, and datolite, as well as a range of microminerals. Historic!
