This is an exceptional miniature specimen of chrysotile (asbestos) from the Jeffrey Mine in Quebec. The fibrous crystals are iridescent green and have chatoyant lustre. Once one of the world’s largest asbestos producers, the now-extinct Jeffrey Mine is renowned for specimens of this quality. Despite the negative associations with asbestos, this piece stands out as an outstanding and scientifically significant example of chrysotile.
