This charming specimen features several twinned chabazite crystals, this twinning is known as "phacolite”. They are perched attractively on matrix alongside pearly white heulandite. The phacolite twins display the classic rounded form and have subtle translucency for which this habit is known.
Collected from the relatively new and increasingly promising locality at Glenmont, Nova Scotia, this specimen reflects the diverse zeolite mineralization found within the area’s basalt cavities. Glenmont has quickly become recognized for producing high-quality chabazite, heulandite, and related zeolite species, often with excellent crystal form and balance.
A fine example of "phacolite" chabazite paired with heulandite, and a desirable addition for collectors of Canadian zeolites, or Bay of Fundy mineralogy.
