This specimen features small rhombohedral chabazite crystals in a shallow vug in a host matrix, collected from the little-known Woodchuck Claim in British Columbia in October 2023. At the time of writing, this locality has not yet been listed on Mindat, highlighting the rarity of these zeolites. While Canada’s most famous zeolite occurrences are in Nova Scotia and Québec, British Columbia also hosts deposits. In particular, the Kamloops region—characterized by basaltic slopes and cliffs near Westwold, BC—has yielded a variety of zeolite species. This specimen represents a rare and interesting addition to the suite of Canadian zeolite localities.
