This lovely miniature display specimen features pseudo-rhombic (though actually triclinic) chabazite crystals with exceptional glassy translucency and a delicate champagne hue. The crystals rest on the base of a basaltic cavity. A classic zeolite specimen from the historic Bohemian region of the Czech Republic.
This locality emerged suddenly in 1995 due to a rockslide and subsequent slope movements. The surface volcanic rocks, including basaltic lavas and associated clastics, were deposited here atop the Cretaceous sandstones of the Merboltic Formation. An excellent old-time specimen from this notable zeolite-producing region.
