Cerussite, Smithsonite (var. Cuprian)

Tsumeb Mine, Otjikoto Region
Namibia
Dimensions: 6.2x4.6x2.7 cm
Price: CA

$170.00

This fine miniature specimen from Tsumeb, Namibia, features two somewhat rounded cerussite crystals perched on an oxidized matrix, surrounded by a delicate druse of lime-green smithsonite crystals. The bright green smithsonite adds a welcome bit of colour and textural depth, accentuating the geometry of the cerussite and highlighting the complex secondary mineralization that Tsumeb is world-renowned for.

The specimen comes from the collection of Robert Yeoman, an Irish-born collector who has lived in Toronto for most of his life. Yeoman’s collection is especially celebrated for its exceptional suite of Tsumeb minerals, and this piece exemplifies his appreciation for specimens that combine rarity, beauty, and classic associations from one of the world’s most important mineral localities.
