Celestine (Fluorite included), Calcite

Dundas Quarry, West Flamborough Township, Hamilton, Ontario
Canada
Dimensions: 3.6x3.0x2.0 cm
Price: CA

$85.00

An attractive sparkling specimen of celestine from the famous Dundas Quarry area of southwestern Ontario, featuring crystals with a delicate pastel violet hue caused by microscopic fluorite inclusions. Several lustrous honey-coloured dogtooth calcite crystals are scattered across the specimen, making for an attractive pairing with  the shimmering lavender celestine.

The Dundas Quarry has been one of Ontario's classic mineral localities for over a century, producing some of Canada's finest celestine specimens. Despite the abundance of celestine in the quarry, well-preserved specimens are surprisingly uncommon due to the fragile nature of the crystals and the blasting required during quarrying. With collecting no longer permitted, attractive pieces such as this have become increasingly sought after by Ontario mineral collectors.
