$195.00

An exceptional thick, tabular celestine crystal from the famous Dundas Quarry area of southwestern Ontario. This impressive crystal displays a soft blue-grey colour and excellent translucency, with razor-sharp edges, a classic bevelled chisel-shaped termination, and the distinctive white zoned tip for which Dundas celestine is renowned. A cluster of honey-coloured dogtooth calcite crystals decorates the reverse of the specimen, providing an attractive association that complements the crystal's overall aesthetic. Preserved in excellent condition and neatly cleaved only at the base where it was detached from the vug wall, this is an outstanding display specimen.

The Dundas Quarry is widely regarded as Canada's premier locality for celestine, producing beautifully formed crystals from vugs within the Lockport Formation dolostone along the Niagara Escarpment. Large, well-terminated crystals of this quality are uncommon. Since collecting is no longer permitted at the Lafarge quarry, fine specimens such as this have become increasingly difficult to obtain. An outstanding representative of one of Ontario's most celebrated mineral localities.
