Carrolite, Chalcopyrite

This specimen features excellent cube-octahedral crystals of the relatively rare mineral Carrollite, a rare copper-cobalt-nickel sulfide mineral. The bright, silvery metallic crystals exhibit mirror-like lustre with fine striations, perched on a calcite matrix from the Kamfundwa Mine in the Democratic Republic of Congo. The sharpness of the main crystal, its positioning on the matrix, and the association with chalcopyrite make for a great example for any thumbnail collection.
