This specimen features milky off-white calcite crystals that are doubly terminated and stacked parallel to one another with short points. These crystals have grown over an earlier generation with a thin red oxide coating. Contacted along the bottom, see video. It's a very interesting specimen for the locality, lots to look at!
The Grant Quarry is part of the Beekmantown Formation, which appears in several locations from Saratoga Springs, NY, through Herkimer, NY, St-Clothilde, Quebec, St-Eustache, Quebec, to Greely, Ontario. Mineral specimens from these areas are predominantly old material.
