This specimen features sharp scalenohedral calcite crystals on a fluorite matrix accompanied by minor quartz Aggregates of sparkling brassy chalcopyrite crystals cover much of the surface of the calcite. It originates from the AGS Fluorite Deposit in Newfoundland, discovered during a 2013 diamond drilling program. The deposit is hosted in meta-sediments intruded by rhyolite sills and dykes. Acquired from a former AGS mine manager, this specimen is notable for the locality and fluoresces exceptionally well under UV light. The site is currently closed, with no known plans for reopening.
