This attractive thumbnail-sized specimen from the world-renowned Tsumeb Mine, Namibia features a sharp, well-formed rhombohedron of Calcite with slightly hoppered, striated faces. The crystal displays a translucent, slightly reddish tint, owing to subtle iron oxide inclusions. The Calcite is notably flattened and somewhat disc-like in habit, a classic and desirable morphology for the species from this locality. Near the base, are tiny aggregates of a green secondary mineral, likely Duftite or Mottramite. Attractive, well-proportioned, this is a fine representative example of this classic material from one of the world’s greatest mineral localities.
