This specimen features a partial biotite mica crystal perched on matrix, hosting a distinct patch of tenebrescent sodalite embedded within microcline feldspar. The sodalite displays the remarkable property of tenebrescence, changing colour under ultraviolet light and gradually reverting over several days to weeks, a rare and highly desirable phenomenon among collectors. A small patch of what appears to be eudialyte is also present, though this has not been confirmed.
Collected by the renowned Mont Saint-Hilaire field collector Peter Tarassoff in 1975. Mont Saint-Hilaire is celebrated worldwide for its exceptional diversity of rare minerals, and its sodalite specimens rank among the classics of the locality.
