This specimen originates from Pegmatite No. 22, formerly known as the (much catchier) "Gottcha Claim", situated on an island in Cross Lake, Manitoba. The deposit occurs along the shoreline of one or more small islands, depending on water levels. Beusite, a rare manganese phosphate mineral, typically ranges in colour from reddish to pink. In this specimen, fine-grained, flesh-coloured beusite can be seen in patches throughout the specimen, occurring alongside other unidentified phosphates within a complex granite pegmatite. Beusite is known from only three granitic pegmatite localities within the Superior Province of the Canadian Shield.
