This is a stunning and classic example of the renowned aquamarines from the Shigar Valley, Pakistan. The crystal is exceptionally sharp, lustrous, and well-formed, displaying textbook prismatic hexagonal growth with excellent internal gemminess and a beautifully beveled complex termination. The most fascinating feature of this piece is the presence of delicate inclusions that crisscross one another, in a "helix-like" formation, reminiscent to the growth structure of beryl. Aquamarine is the most abundant variety of beryl on the market today, and for decades, Pakistan has been a premier source of some of the finest aquamarine crystals ever discovered. The specimens from the Shigar Valley are particularly prized for their outstanding crystal form and exceptional clarity.
