Azurite

An attractive specimen from the famous Morenci Mine, Arizona, featuring numerous miniature rosettes of deep blue azurite scattered across a dark matrix with associated malachite. The azurite forms delicate radiating clusters alongside the malachite representing the classic association between the two copper minerals.

The Morenci Mine is one of the world’s great copper localities and has produced countless classic mineral specimens over the decades. While best known as a major copper producer, the locality has also yielded beautiful secondary copper minerals such as azurite and malachite. This specimen is a fine representative example from this famous Arizona locality, displaying excellent colour and pleasing coverage across the matrix.
