Certainly a bit of an old-timer specimen, showing a deep azure-blue colouration that approaches nearly black over much of the surface, with brighter blue areas visible in places. The piece is a little rough around the edges from age and handling, but many of crystal faces still retain good lustre, offering glimpses of the rich colour and character that give classic Tsumeb specimens their unmistakable look.
The specimen comes from the famous mines at Tsumeb, Namibia, one of the most celebrated mineral localities in the world, renowned for producing exceptional oxidized copper minerals. Pieces from older collections often show the signs of decades of circulation among collectors, adding to their sense of history and provenance. This specimen originates from the respected international mineral collection of Peter Tarassoff.
