This azurite sample from the long-closed Empress of India Mine in the Yukon stands out due to its nicely crystallized azurite, unlike most material from the region, making it particularly special. The specimen also contains some minor malachite. Few specimens from this mine have survived, and although collectors occasionally manage to gather material from the site, the collapsed main portal makes it very difficult to produce anything significant. This is one of the only locations, in Canada to produce nice crystals of azurite since Canada was heavily glaciated during the last ice age, erasing most secondary minerals.
