Aurichalcite, Hemimorphite

79 Mine, nr. Hayden, Gila Co., Arizona
USA
Dimensions: 7.0x5.5x4.2 cm
Price: CA

$95.00

This is a richly mineralized combination specimen from the renowned 79 Mine. It features vibrant greenish-blue sprays of aurichalcite densely compacted within the recess of a vug, resting atop a thick layer of clear, sparkling hemimorphite crystals. Cutting through the matrix is a massive white band of unidentified mineralization—possibly massive hemimorphite or white smithsonite. This piece is a very good example of association material from this classic Arizona locality and would make a fine addition to any collection focused on Arizona minerals or complex parageneses involving multiple species.

The 79 Mine, discovered in 1879, is a historic American lead-zinc deposit with a long and complex history of ownership and production. Although currently closed to the public, renewed activity under current ownership has led to a resurgence in specimen recovery. The mine remains a premier source of notable Arizona minerals, particularly known for its vivid blue hemimorphite, cuprian smithsonite, aurichalcite, and yellow wulfenite.
