This impressive old-stock vanadinite specimen comes from the Touissit mining district in Morocco—as opposed to the famous Mibladen locality, known for its deep red vanadinite crystals. Instead, Touissit specimens exhibit a distinct barrel crystal form and brown to tan colour. These well-developed, prismatic hexagonal crystals are an excellent size for both the locality and the species. These arsenic-bearing vanadinite crystals, were mined in the late 1970s to early 1980s, this specimen represents a rare and nearly extinct find, as no significant new discoveries of this material have been made since. Virtually all the well-formed, textbook vanadinite barrels on this specimen are damage-free, making it an outstanding example from this elusive locality.
