Apophyllite

Lustrous and translucent, colourless, equant apophyllite crystals rest on a small remnant of basalt matrix. With one more prominent well-formed crystal on top. Apophyllite, while commonly found in certain areas around the Bay of Fundy, typically occurs in small quantities and is of poor quality. Its perfect cleavage makes it prone to breakage, presenting a challenge for collectors. However, good specimens, such as this one, occasionally emerge from the region, offering a rare and striking example of this locality’s mineralogy.
