This miniature specimen features a large, dark brown-black, highly lustrous andradite-grossular crystal, partially exposed and intergrown within a mass of grossular, with traces of white calcite matrix still attached. The specimen originates from the Marmoraton Mine, an iron mine situated in the Precambrian meta-sediments near Marmora, Ontario. The mine operated from around 1950 until its closure in 1977, with workings consisting of a large open pit.
