A fascinating example of pseudomorphism from the renowned Mont Saint-Hilaire alkaline complex. This specimen features a well-formed analcime crystal that has completely replaced an original sodalite prism, faithfully preserving its external morphology. The pseudomorph exhibits numerous sharply defined analcime faces across its surface, adding subtle geometric texture and plenty of sparkle. Through the translucent white analcime, traces of the original royal blue sodalite can still be seen, hinting at the specimen’s mineralogical history. Pseudomorphs of this type are a distinctive and highly sought-after occurrence at Mont Saint-Hilaire, illustrating the complex alteration processes that can occur in its highly evolved, sodium-rich environment. A must-have for collectors focused on mineral transformations or the mineralogy of this world-famous locality.
