Analcime, Levyne, Heulandite

Glenmont, Kings Co., Nova Scotia
Canada
Dimensions: 4.7x3.7x3.8 cm
Price: CA

$75.00

An uncommon member of the zeolite group, levyne occurs as white, trigonal tabular crystals, tucked between two orange-tinted analcime crystals to 2mm. On the specimen are also many, lovely, pearlescent, orange-tinted heulandite blades. Some of the better-formed levyne crystals display distinct triangular faces. This specimen was collected at an inland basalt quarry in Glenmont, Nova Scotia, a locality known for producing some of North America’s finest heulandite specimens. Levyne specimens are relatively rare, and these crystals represent a new, crystal habit for the species. Notably, this species is a new discovery for Nova Scotia, with no records currently on mindat.org.
