Here’s a classic example of a rich, large amethyst stalactite—the terminated tip of a stalactitic growth—from the famous basalt deposits of Artigas, Uruguay. The surface is densely covered with sharp, glassy amethyst points that exhibit a beautiful colour gradient: deep grape-juice purple at the terminations, fading to a soft lavender hue toward the base. It looks great from all angles, with only a few minor dings. This highly sculptural specimen makes an outstanding centrepiece and would be a striking addition to any display.
