Solid acanthite moulded after the quartz it was pressed between as it formed. An unusual and rich silver sulphide specimen!
These acanthite specimens were collected by Ian Hamilton beginning in 2015. About the find he says, "... As for the digging, this particular cleft had been worked at by someone looking for Amethyst and quartz. Not particularly great stuff, but they completely overlooked the real prize. There was one nugget I dug up with a smear from my rock hammer. I called it my eureka rock. After that I was more careful. The entire area is lousy with silver veins that never got worked, and scattered piles of mine dumps worth picking through…"
