Daniel Joyce has cultivated a diverse and dynamic career that bridges the worlds of art, special effects, and science. He has worked as an art gallery manager, a special effects technician in the film and television industry, and—most relevantly here—as a dedicated mineral dealer. While he continues to make strides in providing practical effects for film and TV productions, Daniel thrives as a mineral collector and dealer, carrying forward a lifelong passion for the mineral world. Despite his busy schedule, he remains committed to his artistic pursuits, regularly painting and drawing as another outlet for his creativity.
Daniel’s artistic journey began with formal studies at Fanshawe College, followed by a Bachelor of Fine Arts at the Nova Scotia College of Art and Design. Drawn to Halifax’s vibrant art scene, he immersed himself in the community for nearly a decade, eventually serving as Director of the Khyber Centre for the Arts, where his creative vision for the centre thrived. In 2017, he completed a Master of Visual Studies at the University of Toronto. He was later hired on as a gallery manager for two esteemed contemporary art galleries in Toronto, where he worked with high-end private, public, and corporate collections, assisted with consultations, and conducted art appraisals.

As a child, Daniel was always surrounded by rocks and minerals, learning the basics from his father, David Joyce at an early age. His true passion for mineral collecting, however, blossomed during his years in Nova Scotia. When his father visited, they would embark on excursions to places like the Bay of Fundy and Cape Breton, collecting zeolites and other minerals. It was there that Daniel honed his skills and developed a discerning eye for unique crystals, sparking a fascination with the mineral world that has continued to grow ever since.
Upon returning to Ontario years later, Daniel’s enthusiasm for minerals remained undiminished. He immersed himself in the hobby with renewed dedication—attending mineral shows, studying mineralogical literature, and building connections within the collecting community. His fieldwork brought him to many of Ontario’s classic localities, including Bancroft, Eganville, Quadeville, Flamborough, and Cobalt, where he refined his collecting techniques and developed a deeper appreciation for the region’s diverse mineral heritage. Over time, Daniel began to weave his passion for minerals into his professional life, becoming actively involved in his father’s mineral dealing business. His contributions spanned photography, inventory development, field collecting, and website management, all of which helped expand the business’s reach and reputation.

Today, Daniel proudly carries on his father's legacy, steering the business forward with an unwavering commitment to excellence in minerals and a relentless pursuit of expertise in mineralogy. His profound appreciation for the beauty and intricacies of minerals fuels his dedication to preserving and promoting their significance in the world.
